The company will take on about 160 new workers

Business outsourcing company Firstsource is to recruit 160 employees at its Londonderry premises.

Earlier this year, the company, which already employs about 600 people in the city, unveiled plans for expansion.

Sean Harnett, general manager of the firm's Derry operation, said the positions would be filled before January 2009.

"We need customer service and the ability to talk and obviously people in Derry can do that."

The additional vacancies will be advertised from this week.

As a business outsourcing company, Firstsource operates two centres in Belfast and Derry employing more than 900 people.
