Day care centre move 'on hold'

The plan to move the facility to Gransha has been put on hold

A plan to move a day care centre for adults with learning disabilities in Londonderry has been put on hold by the Western Trust.

The Trust had planned to move the learning disability service from Greenhaw Lodge on the Cityside to its headquarters at Gransha.

The transfer has been suspended until after Christmas.

Goretti Horgan, whose child uses the centre, said parents will fight to keep the facility in the community.

A spokesperson for the Western Trust said it was continuing to explore all options and venues for the future longer-term location of these services and will continue to engage with clients and carers regarding these decisions as agreed.
