Device in controlled explosion

Police
The device was discovered in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

There has been a security alert in the Crawfordsburn area of Maghera, County Londonderry.

The suspect device was discovered just after 0630 GMT on Tuesday morning.

A number of homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution by police as the device was examined.

Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion on the suspect device during the alert, which lasted about four hours.
