Straw bales lost in hay shed fire

A hay shed has been extensively damaged in a fire on the Glenshane Road near Claudy.

Eighty bales and some machinery were lost in the blaze which started at about 2000 BST on Wednesday. Crews were at the scene until after midnight.

District Commander Willie Lynch said the fire appeared to be accidental.

"There was electricity running to this shed so that is the first thing we would look at, but all possibilities have to be examined," he said.
