A 23-year-old man has appeared before Londonderry Magistrates Court charged in connection with a weekend stabbing.

Daniel John Moran, of Inch View in the city, is accused of attempted murder.

A police officer told the court the defendant is alleged to have stabbed his 26-year-old victim following a row outside his home in Drumleck Drive.

A defence solicitor said Mr Moran admitted kicking and punching the victim but denied stabbing him. He was remanded in custody until 6 November.

The court was told the injured man was stabbed in the face, chest, right forearm and left leg and is in Dundonald Hospital receiving specialist medical treatment.
