A Tesco superstore planned for the Buncrana Road in Londonderry has had its projected size cut by half.

The original plans for 56,000 square foot store have been replaced by a development measuring 30,000 sq ft.

But Tesco's corporate affairs manager, Colin Hampsey, said a "reduction in store size will not mean a reduction in jobs".

"We currently employ approximately 500 people in Derry and this would probably bring in an additional 250 jobs."
