Residents in a County Donegal village have been told to boil their drinking water after a reservoir became contaminated with bacteria.

People in Muff and the surrounding area must boil their drinking water until Tuesday.

The bacterial contamination was discovered this week.

Donegal county councillor Padraig MacLochlainn said nobody had been put at risk but the council was obliged by law to put the restrictions in place.
