Man in court over Quigley murder

A man arrested over the killing of Londonderry woman Jean Quigley has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Stephen Cahoon, 35, of Harvey Street in Derry, appeared at a special sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court in County Leitrim.

He was remanded in custody until 15 August.

Ms Quigley, who was 30, was beaten to death at her Cornshell Fields home on 26 July.

Mr Cahoon was arrested in Donegal town on Tuesday. He was later taken to hospital in Sligo but was discharged on Thursday night.

Ms Quigley, a mother-of-four, was two months pregnant when she was killed.
