Four divers have been rescued after being carried five miles from their boat by strong currents off the County Donegal coast

The divers got into difficulties near Malin Head on Sunday afternoon.

Two coastguard helicopters and a number of fishing boats in the area at the time were involved in the rescue.

The divers, who are from the Sligo area, spent almost three hours in the water, but were not hospitalised.

A spokesperson from Malin Head coastguard said 16 different groups of divers were in the water off the headland on Sunday.
