Cash stolen in bookies hold-up

Ladbroke's Lecky Road
A small amount of cash was taken in the robbery

Staff at a bookmakers shop in Londonderry have been left shaken after two armed robbers threatened them with a gun and a hammer.

The masked men burst into the Lecky Road branch of Ladbrokes on Wednesday evening.

It is the third time the premises has been targeted by armed robbers.

They made off with a small sum of cash. No-one was injured during the robbery, but Sinn Féin councillor Patricia Logue said staff were left "shaken".

"There were three staff there, and a few punters inside, and I know they were all very frightened at what took place.

"I was speaking to a few of the customers, one being my next door neighbour, and she was very very frightened," she said.
