Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them

Shots have been fired at a house in Newry, County Down.

A car pulled up to the house at Quayside Close in the Fathom Park area at about 2230 BST on Friday. It is believed eight shots were fired.

A 34-year-old man, a 33-year-old woman and a four-year-old girl were in the house at the time. No-one was injured.

Police are working to establish a motive. A Sunday newspaper previously named the intended victim as being under a dissident republican threat.

The driver and a passenger fired the shots which struck the door of the house and a window, as well as a parked car.

They drove off in the direction of Omeath, County Louth.

It is believed a third person was also travelling in the car.

Police have appealed for information.
