Three jet aircraft have been ordered from Bombardier by a Uruguayan airline.

The order is for the CRJ900 NextGen Regional Jet. The company's plant in Belfast makes its fuselage, engine parts and wing components.

The airline, Pluna Líneas Aéreas Uruguayas, has also taken options on another six similar aircraft.

Bombardier in Belfast described the orders as "a step in the right direction" in what it says is "still a very challenging market".

Earlier this week the company revealed that profits at its Belfast operation had fallen and it only managed to break even last year.
