Police attacked during New Mossley disturbances

Stones and fireworks have been thrown at police during disturbances in Newtownabbey on Tuesday night.

At 2215 BST police were contacted about a barricade which had been placed across the road and set on fire at the entrance to New Mossley estate.

About 20 to 30 youths were involved in the incident on the Ballyclare Road.

When police responded they were attacked by the youths who made off into the estate. No-one was reported to have been injured during the trouble.

Police said the area was quiet by about 2330 BST.
