Ryanair is to increase its baggage check-in fees during the summer

Passengers flying with Irish airline Ryanair face increased baggage rates during the summer.

Check-in fees during July and August will rise from £15 per bag to £20. The increase will apply to bookings made from midnight.

The company said the increase was meant to "incentivise all of its passengers to travel light" during the peak summer months.

The £15 check-in fee will apply outside July and August, a spokesperson said.

Ryanair said it would urge its passengers to avoid check-in baggage fees by travelling with carry-on bags only.
