Man found dead was from well-known family

Derry

A man in his 70s who was found dead in the grounds of his home on Saturday has been named locally as John Beresford-Ash.

Mr Beresford-Ash was well-known in Londonderry. He came from one of the oldest established Protestant families in the north west region.

He was found dead in the grounds of his 16th century ancestral home at Ardmore Road on Saturday.

The area is cordoned off and a post-mortem exam is being carried out.
