The Robinsons, the developers and the 5 land deal

Robinson liar

BBC Newsline's Martina Purdy asks Peter Robinson if he is prepared to withdraw his accusation that Jim Allister and the BBC are "liars".

BBC Newsline can exclusively reveal how Peter and Iris Robinson bought a valuable piece of land from a developer for just a fiver.

That developer was the late Fred Fraser - a man they describe as a personal friend.

The same developer who later gave Mrs. Robinson twenty-five thousand pounds to help her former lover start a business.

The £5 deal enabled the Robinsons to sell part of their back garden for the best part of half a million pounds.

We also reveal that the two MPs could be liable for tens of thousands of pounds of tax; that they failed to tell the House of Commons about their ownership of the land; and that Peter Robinson failed to declare an interest in a planning application that allowed the sale of their garden to go through.
