Davy Sims has been appointed as the director of communications for the UUP
Former BBC man Davy Sims has been named as the new director of communications for the Ulster Unionist Party.
Mr Sims has taken up the post which Alex Kane resigned in February amid rumours of a rift over the party's plans for a UUP-DUP pact.
Mr Kane said as director of communications he was "unaware of what was going on" in terms of the party and its future.
Mr Sims was previously the head of New Media in BBC Northern Ireland.
He began his career at Downtown in 1979 and in his time at the BBC, he also worked in current affairs on Radio Four and Radio Ulster.
He is chair of Digital Circle, the representative body for the digital content industry in NI.
After taking voluntary redundancy at the BBC in 2008, Mr Sims has worked as a freelance writer and communications consultant.
