Stormont accepts Hillsborough policing and justice deal

Policing vote

Gareth Gordon reports on events at Stormont as the Northern Ireland Assembly voted to endorse the Hillsborough deal on policing and justice.

It has been the issue that has threatened the very continuance of this assembly.

Yet, with today's vote to seek the transfer of policing and justice powers from Westminster to Stormont, we are told the last piece of the devolution jigsaw has fallen into place - at least until 2012 when the whole thing could be renegotiated.

With the sun shining on Stormont this morning and the DUP indicating they were united, the future looked bright for those who wanted a yes vote.

But, as our political correspondent Gareth Gordon reports, not everyone was running in the same direction.
