Second man accused of raping Belfast schoolgirl

Belfast Magistrates Court
The pair are appearing in court on Wednesday

A second man has been charged with raping and sexually abusing a 15-year-old schoolgirl over a three-day period.

The alleged offences took place at a house in north Belfast at the beginning of this month.

The court heard 18-year-old Thomas Cochrane, from Seaview Close in Belfast, denies raping the girl or taking any indecent images of her.

He is to appear in court via videolink with his co-accused, 18-year-old Samuel Carson from Hesketh Road on Wednesday.

Mr Cochrane will make an application for bail at a later date.

A detective told Mr Carson's court hearing on Saturday the police case was that the girl had been "picked up" while wearing her school uniform and taken back to Mr Carson's house where she was allegedly plied with "large quantities" of drink and drugs before being abused over three days.

He further claimed that the abuse was video recorded on mobile phones.
