Many schools closed on Thursday

Much of Northern Ireland saw snow on Wednesday

A number of schools across Northern Ireland will be closed on Thursday due to ongoing problems with bad weather.

On Wednesday, many opened in the morning but closed early because of severe snow showers.

Some schools asked parents to come and collect their children as soon as it was possible for them to do so.

In some cases, schools will remain closed on Thursday not only because of problems with transport but also because of heating difficulties.

The following schools will be closed on Thursday:

  • Artigarvan Primary School
  • Ballyholland Primary School, Newry (school will remain closed on Friday)
  • Ballymoney High School
  • Bellarena Primary School
  • Belleek Primary School
  • Bridgehill Primary School, Castlederg
  • Chapel Road Primary School, Londonderry
  • Drumlegagh Primary School
  • Dundonald High School is closed but pupils who are doing their Learning for Life and Work GCSE must attend according to their scheduled timetable
  • Hill Croft Special School in Newtownabbey
  • Edwards Primary School, Castlederg
  • Fivemiletown Primary School remaining open but its evening event has been brought forward to 1330 GMT
  • Kesh Primary School
  • Knockloughrim Primary School
  • Langfield Primary School. Drumquin
  • Lisnagarvey High School, Lisburn (reopens on Friday rather than Monday as previously thought - GCSE students should attend as normal)
  • Loughash Primary School, Donemana
  • Omagh Integrated Primary School
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School, Omagh
  • Portadown Integrated Primary School (closed until Monday)
  • Rosstulla Special School, Jordanstown
  • St Anthony's Primary School, Craigavon
  • St Anthony's Primary School, Limavady
  • St Brigid's Primary School, Cranagh
  • St Brigid's Boys High School, Armagh (closed on Friday as well, but pupils taking their GCSEs should attend as normal)
  • St Davogs Primary School, Belleek
  • St Eugene's Primary School, Victoria Bridge
  • St John's Primary and Nursery School, Middletown (closed on Friday)
  • St John the Baptist Primary School, Belleek
  • St John's Primary School in Coleraine (closed on Friday)
  • St Joseph's, Crossmaglen (will reopen on Friday)
  • St Joseph's, Drumquin
  • St Joseph's Primary School, Glenmornan
  • St Martin's Primary School, Garrison
  • St Mary's Primary School, Altinure
  • St Mary's Primary School, Cloghcor
  • St Mary's Primary School, Granemore (will reopen on Friday)
  • St Mary's Primary School, Greenlough, Portglenone (closed on Friday as well)
  • St Mary's Boys Primary School, Strabane
  • St Mary's Girls Primary School, Strabane
  • St Michael's Primary School, Clady
  • St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School, Ballyhagen
  • St Patrick's College, Banbridge
  • St Patrick's Primary Schools, Dunamanagh
  • St Patrick's Primary School, Gortin (closed on Friday as well)
  • St Peter's Primary School, Plumbridge
  • St Peter's High School, Derry (closed until Monday - pupils sitting Learning for Life and Work GCSE on Thursday or Friday should report to St Joseph's Boys School on Westway)
  • St Teresa's Primary School, Loughmacrory
  • Sandelford Special school in Coleraine closed on Friday
  • Stranmillis Primary School
