Kidnappers have forced a woman to take cash from her work while holding her family hostage in their west Belfast home.

A number of masked men entered their home in the Andersonstown Road area early on Tuesday.

They told her to take money from the safe at her workplace, a department store in the Park Centre, while her husband and daughter were held hostage.

Police said the family were not injured but badly shaken by her ordeal.

Her car was later found abandoned in the Beechview Park area.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses, especially anyone who saw a grey Fiat Punto in the Ballymurphy area early on Tuesday.
