A second man has been arrested following the death of a man in Portstewart on Sunday morning.

A 28-year-old man was assaulted outside the Havana nightclub, part of Shenanigans bar, on The Promenade shortly before 0200 GMT.

Police said the man died in hospital a short time later.

Two men, aged 20 and 31, have been arrested and are being questioned. Witnesses to the attack have been asked to contact police on 0845 6008000.

The victim's name has not been released by police.

SDLP East Derry Assembly Member John Dallat said the death was "shocking".

"I have spoken to the police this morning and they are doing everything possible to establish what led up to this unfortunate incident and I would ask anyone who knows anything about the circumstances to get in touch with the PSNI immediately," he added.
