The son of a couple found dead in County Fermanagh has spoken of his sorrow at their deaths.

Dr James Barbour said he had no indication that his parents intended to end their lives.

A neighbour found Anne Barbour, 83, dead at her home on the Sligo Road in Enniskillen.

The body of her husband Bill, who was 89, was recovered from Rossole Lough the following day. A post-mortem examination found that he had drowned.

Mrs Barbour was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease and her husband was her primary carer.

Their son, James, gave an emotional interview to BBC Newsline's Conor MacAuley. He said his father left a note saying they had lived too long.
