A man has been abducted and beaten in a suspected sectarian attack in County Londonderry early on Saturday.

The 21-year-old was walking home from a party when he was stopped by a number of men in a dark-coloured car on the Ballynameen Road in Garvagh.

They assaulted him, then bundled him into the boot of the car. He was driven away, beaten again then taken to Bamford Park in Rasharkin and dumped.

He suffered several injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
