Suspected rapist taken to court

A suspected rapist who went on the run for 12 years has appeared at the Old Bailey in London after being arrested in Northern Ireland.

Andrzej Wysocki, 30, allegedly took part in the gang rape of two women in London in 1996, but fled while on bail.

He was arrested on 10 November in Lisburn, County Antrim, after police received information he was living with members of the Polish community.

Also known as Dawid Wysocki and Arthur Bryewiczis he was remanded in custody.

He is accused of kidnapping and attacking a 24-year-old woman with at least one other man on 17 September, 1996, in Tottenham.

He is also accused of being involved in the kidnap and gang rape of a 17-year-old prostitute five days later.
