Name of town road victim released

Police accident

The man who died after being knocked down by a car in Ballymena on Thursday evening was 57-year-old John Scott McKeown from Shanksbridge Road, Kells.

The accident happened in the Larne Link Road area shortly before 1830 GMT.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the pedestrian being hit by a blue Chevrolet car to contact them.

A police spokesperson said they were not treating the incident as a hit-and-run.
