Twenty-two jobs have been created by Northern Ireland insurance broker Hughes Insurance.

The customer service jobs have been created at the company's Newtownards headquarters.

Earlier this year, the company recruited a further 40 staff across its 12 regional branches.

It now employs more than 200 people across Northern Ireland. Hughes has said that further expansion in 2010 is "inevitable".

Sixteen of the new 22 employees have been brought in to expand its opening hours whilst the other six have been recruited to enhance its online service.

"Customer behaviour is changing - so we need a flexible business model to serve the market," the company said.

"Increasingly our customers access our service online and out of office hours. As a result we have invested in our customer access points to cater for market demands."
