Catherwood spent time as the presenter of Five news

The Belfast-born journalist Andrea Catherwood is joining the business news broadcaster Bloomberg as one of its main presenters.

The former ITN foreign reporter and newsreader has been hired as part of a relaunch of the channel.

Brian Martinez, Bloomberg TV head for Europe said: "Andrea's extensive background in global reporting make her a great addition to our team."

Catherwood has reported from Afghanistan, Kosovo and Sierra Leone.

She suffered a shrapnel wound during a grenade attack in Afghanistan in 2001.

Her new role will be based in London.

Bloomberg TV, which was founded in 1981, is on an expansion drive and has recently redesigned its main studio set.
