Restaurant car crash man in court

Scene of the crash
Police said the car had failed to stop at a checkpoint

A man has appeared at Dungannon Crown Court charged with driving a car which crashed into a restaurant in Fermanagh.

Twenty-six-year old Kevin Barry Slattery, from Rodgers Villas in Omagh, faced seven charges in connection with the incident in Lisnarick on 14 June.

He pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving, but guilty to careless driving. He also admitted causing criminal damage to the restaurant.

The PPS said they would not accept the not guilty to dangerous driving plea.

The car Mr Slattery was driving ploughed into the Tullana on the Green restaurant during Sunday lunch.

In court on Thursday, Mr Slattery also pleaded guilty to charges of having no insurance, failing to remain at the scene and failing to report the accident, but denied he had failed to stop at the accident site.

He was remanded in custody until his trial in Enniskillen on 18 November.
