North-East reporter Nicola Weir talks to Inspector Pete Bouma about the operation as well as employees of the MOT centre who point out vehicle hazards.
The police have been taking action to crack down on unsafe vehicles in a County Antrim town.
A weekend operation in Ballymena mainly targeted modified cars, in particular, those driven by young men.
But it also looked at the problems of anti-social behaviour and littering as well.
Police officers were joined in the operation by members of the council, customs and Driver and Vehicle Agency.
BBC Newsline's reporter in the North-East, Nicola Weir, spoke to Inspector Pete Bouma of Ballymena PSNI who explained why the police decided to tackle the issue.
She spoke to Transport Enforcement Officers, who pointed out some of the potentially fatal defects on cars.
Our reporter also spoke to a number of men working in the MOT centre who pointed out the hazards of some of the vehicles.
