Greenisland man is beaten by gang

A 20-year-old man has been beaten by a gang of seven men wearing balaclavas at his home in Greenisland, County Antrim.

The gang forced their way into the house at Moyard Gardens in the early hours of Saturday.

They proceeded to hit the man with iron bars. He suffered a broken elbow, cuts and bruising in the attack.

A number of windows were also smashed and damage caused to the interior of the house.

The victim remains in hospital, however, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A police spokeswoman said that detectives had not yet established a motive for the attack.
