Funeral service for band member

The funeral of a 30-year-old bandswoman who died after being hit by a Range Rover at a Twelfth parade in County Down has taken place.

Debbie Jordan, from Saintfield, died after the vehicle, which was in the parade, crashed into Cahard Flute Band.

Her colleagues from the Post Office formed a guard of honour at the service, which was held at Ballygowan Presbyterian Church.

The Cahard Flute Band provided music at the service.

Reverend Dr Brian Black who took the service said the local community had been "stunned and saddened" by her death.

"The sheer number of people here this afternoon bears testimony to the fact that within this community and beyond her life was unquestionably special," he said.

"We ache today and that is right and appropriate.

"Our tears are not a sign of weakness, they are an indication that we have lost something precious.

"Our tears reveal that we have been touched by the life of Deborah Jordan."
