There has been a fire at a grocery shop in the Newtownards Road area of east Belfast.

The fire at the McMaster Street premises was reported at about 0200 BST on Thursday.

Initial inquiries suggest the shop may have been burgled, a police said. Part of McMaster Street is currently closed.

Meanwhile, in a second incident, UUP councillor Michael Copeland said paint was thrown at a house in nearby Pitt Parade on Wednesday afternoon.

The same house was target by nationalist youths throwing stones on Tuesday night.
