The children of a woman injured in Kenya while working for a charity have been robbed while in hospital with their mother.

Mary Morgan, from Rostrevor, County Down, was on a charity project with 13 others when their bus overturned.

Her son and two daughters had cash, passports, mobile phones and credit cards stolen while they gave blood for for their mother in a Nairobi hospital.

Mrs Morgan's sister said the latest news was "unbearable" for the family.

"When they got there most of the team Mary had been with had already given blood, as far as I know, and of course her children being perfect matches were actually in the process of giving blood when all of their belongings were stolen," Anne Baxter said.

"The devastation at the minute of Mary's three children of having nothing there, whenever Mary is such a tireless worker, is unbelievable."

Mrs Morgan was seriously injured in a bus crash which was taking a 13-strong Habitat for Humanity NI team to a site in Kathiani.

The charity builds houses for people in need. This team of volunteers was an "open team" made up of people from across Northern Ireland aged between 18 and 61.

They were on their way to begin a second day's work when the accident happened.
