Mr Ross collected rubbish from dumps and stored it in his garden

A Belfast man who travelled around dumps in the city on his bike, collecting rubbish and storing it in his garden, has been given an Asbo.

The two-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order was issued to Brendan Ross, from Dunraven Crescent.

He was convicted on 2 June for failing to comply with a previous court order to remove items - including discarded food - from his garden.

On Tuesday, a judge agreed to the Asbo at the request of Belfast City Council.

It prevents Mr Ross from storing items in a way likely to be prejudicial to public health or otherwise so as to cause alarm, harassment or distress to others.

He was also banned from collecting rubbish from private skips, bins or civic amenity/recycling sites, and is not permitted to have more than two bicycles in his possession.
