Reaction to DUP cabinet reshuffle

Politicians have been giving their reaction to the Democratic Unionist Party's reshuffle of its ministers in the Executive.

PETER ROBINSON, FIRST MINISTER AND DUP LEADER

"In keeping with our previously announced intention to phase out multiple mandates, all but one of my parliamentary colleagues will leave ministerial office.

"New appointments will take effect after a period of briefing with outgoing ministers. I will announce new committee chairmanships before the end of this week."

DAVID MCNARRY, ULSTER UNIONIST MLA

"The truth is that the reshuffle is only happening because David Cameron said he would make double jobbing illegal if the DUP didn't give it up.

"The resulting DUP reshuffle will not fool the unionist electorate either. What does it matter? It is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic."

JIM ALLISTER, TRADITIONAL UNIONIST PARTY LEADER

"The ordinary voter in the street will doubtless feel some bemusement at Nelson McCausland taking a post in the Executive alongside the IRA's political wing after being thrown out of the Assembly chamber twice for attacking Sinn Fein's links to criminality.

"And how does Sammy Wilson's retention in the Executive square with the DUP's pledge to end double jobbing - an issue highlighted by TUV during the election?"

BRIAN WILSON, GREEN PARTY MLA

"I welcome the departure of Sammy Wilson who in his year as Environment Minister put the cause of climate change back by at least ten years.

"I hope that now in his new position as Finance Minister he will not continue to frustrate efforts to address this issue by holding back necessary funds."
