Youth charged over town assault

The man was attacked at Scarffes Entry in Omagh

A 16-year-old youth has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm in connection with an assault in Omagh.

He is expected to appear in court in the town on Wednesday.

A 21-year-old man is in a critical condition following the incident, which took place at Scarffes Entry at about 0400 BST.

He was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry with a serious head injury but was later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
