Morgan is new Lord Chief Justice

Sir Declan Morgan

High Court Judge Sir Declan Morgan has been appointed as Northern Ireland's next Lord Chief Justice.

He went to school at St Columb's College in Londonderry and then studied at Cambridge and Queen's University in Belfast.

Sir Declan, who is married with three children, has replaced Sir Brian Kerr who held the post for five years.

He was called to the Bar in 1976, took Silk in 1993 and was appointed a High Court Judge in May 2004.
