Glucose used to 'bulk out drugs'

Northern Ireland High Court
Bail was refused at the High Court

A body builder used glucose to bulk out £150,000 worth of amphetamines in a bid to settle his drug debts, the High Court has heard.

Prosecutors said Stephen Johnston, 27, admitted mixing up to 16 kilos for an Antrim-based gang he owed money to.

Johnston, of Corbally Park, Antrim, faces charges of possessing a Class B Drug with intent to supply.

He told police during interview that his £1,000 debt was to be reduced by £200 for carrying out the process.

Details of the case emerged as he applied for compassionate bail to be best man at his cousin's wedding.

Mr Justice Hart refused bail saying he did not believe attendance at such a social occasion was "sufficiently pressing to justify a grant of bail"
