A man has died following a road accident in County Down.

Darren Brown, 19, from Downpatrick was killed in the two-vehicle crash on the Belfast Road near Saintfield shortly before 2300 BST on Saturday.

Two other men were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A woman travelling in the other vehicle was not injured.

The road was closed for a time but has since re-opened. Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Meanwhile, a woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Ballynahinch.

The incident occurred on Main Street at about 0150 BST on Saturday.
