Man killed in police bike crash

A man has died after his motorcycle was in collision with a police motorcycle in County Antrim.

The crash took place on Garron Road, outside Carnlough, at about 1420 BST on Sunday as the police were escorting a group of motorcyclists to an event.

The police officer has been taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident has been reported to the the Police Ombudsman who is carrying out an investigation.

In a separate incident, another motorcyclist died when his bike was in collision with a van near Ballymena.

The accident took place on the Glenravel Road at about 1030 BST on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a man in his 30s from Londonderry died after the car he was driving crashed into a fence on the Muff to Molville road.

Another man in his 20s was also seriously injured in the accident, which took place at about 1000 BST on Sunday.

The injured man has been taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident. The road is closed while Irish police, who have appealed for information, examine the scene.
