Maria McQuillan says she has "no secret" to her long life

One of Belfast's oldest citizens, who will celebrate her 107th birthday later on Friday, has said she has "no secret at all" to her long life.

Maria McQuillan from south Belfast was born in 1902. She has lived through two world wars and has outlived five British monarchs and 10 popes.

"I have no secret at all, you just live till you die and that's it," she said.

"I don't smoke - never did. I don't drink, only if I was at a party you'd get a wee drink."

The great-grandmother has received another birthday card from the Queen, and President of Ireland Mary McAleese sent a medal to mark the occasion.
