Woman stabbed to death in Bangor

A murder inquiry has been launched after a young woman was stabbed to death in Bangor, County Down.

She was Katie Hughes, 21, a mother of one from the Bangor area. It is understood she was stabbed at a house party on Easter Monday night.

The stabbing happened in Park Avenue. She was rushed to hospital, but died.

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the killing. The area around the house has been cordoned off as police officers examine the scene.

Local DUP assembly member Alex Easton said he felt "shocked and horrified" by the news. He appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
