IRA attack victim dies in crash
Mangled remains of the car
The mangled remains of Mr McDonald's car
A man killed in car crash in Northern Ireland on Sunday had been the victim of a paramilitary-style attack last month.

Paul McDonald, 22, died following an accident in County Tyrone which claimed the life of another man and left two people injured.

The accident happened about 0530 BST on the Ballygawley Road near Dungannon.

It is believed the car in which Mr McDonald was travelling, left the road near the Glengannon Hotel.

Birth of baby

It crashed through a hedge and is thought to have turned over several times before landing in a field.

Mr McDonald had been told to leave the country by the IRA last year, but returned just a few months ago for the birth of his baby.

He was subsequently beaten and shot by the IRA and suffered a fractured skull.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, two people were killed in separate road accidents in Belfast and County Armagh.

A woman was killed in a road accident involving two cars at the Richill roundabout on the Armagh to Portadown road.

The victim was 81-year-old Jean Sterrit, from Carnbane Gardens in Newry, County Down.

Two other people were believed to have been injured in the crash.

The police are appealing for witnesses to the accident to contact them.

Earlier that day, a man died in another accident in the docks area of Belfast.

The crash, involving a car and a lorry, happened shortly before 1100 BST at Dargan Crescent.
