Diane Dodds may fight Euro poll

Mrs Dodds lost her seat at the last assembly election

The DUP's European candidate is likely to be Diane Dodds, wife of Finance Minister Nigel Dodds, the BBC has learned.

It is expected she will win the nomination of the Party Executive early next month.

There had been speculation that Mrs Dodds's husband might fight in May's election but that would mean giving up his seat at Westminster.

Mrs Dodds lost her West Belfast assembly seat at the last election.

Her task will be to prevent Sinn Féin topping the poll, however, among those competing for votes will be former DUP member and sitting MEP Jim Allister.
