The Education Minister has said she would take action on the future of transfer from primary to secondary schools, if no agreement is reached.

Speaking in the assembly, Caitriona Ruane reacted angrily to accusations she had been wasting time with discussions over the 11 plus.

She said she would "do everything" to reach agreement in the assembly but if necessary she would issue guidance.

"I will not stand by and watch while our children are failed," she said.
