Large sum stolen from pensioner

Police car/tape

Several hundred pounds have been stolen from the home of an 83-year-old man outside Carryduff.

A caller claiming to be from Northern Ireland Electricity visited the man's home on the Mealough Road at about 1230 GMT on Tuesday.

He entered the house, and a short time later it was discovered that the money was missing in what police believe was a distraction burglary.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
