Hospital documents dumped in city

Lost hospital notes
The notes were found in an alleyway in Derry

Letterkenny General Hospital has ordered an investigation into how confidential patients' notes were found dumped in an alleyway in Londonderry.

The documents on headed paper were found in a back lane at Gartan Square in the Bogside area this week.

They contained the names, dates of birth and medical complaints or conditions of 12 people, including a pregnant woman.

The breach has been described as "totally unacceptable" by the hospital.
