Man in 20s injured in stabbing

A man has been injured in a stabbing in Cookstown, County Tyrone.

The 23-year-old was assaulted by three youths during an incident at a house party in the town's Drum Road at about 0200 GMT on Thursday.

It continued outside the house where the victim was stabbed. He suffered head injuries and puncture wounds to his arm and shoulder.

He was not stabbed in the lung as originally reported. He was treated in hospital but has since been discharged.

A knife was recovered by the police, but no arrests have yet been made.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack or has any information about it to contact them.
