Suspicious approach to two girls

Police have issued an appeal for information after two girls, aged nine and 10, were approached by a man in a van in County Fermanagh.

The girls were walking on Main Street in Maguiresbirdge at about 2000 BST on Saturday, when a small silver van stopped close to them.

The driver beckoned the girls over, but they ran away.

The driver is described as having grey/black hair, a hoop through the top of one ear and a goatee beard.


Fatal bus accident witnesses sought

Passengers who were on a bus involved in a fatal accident in Newry last Monday have been urged to come forward by police.

Bridie Cookson, 50, from Jerrettspass died after she was struck by the vehicle close to the bus station at Merchant's Quay at 1445 BST.

Police said they wanted to talk to anyone who had not yet come forward who was on the 1315 express bus from Dublin to Belfast.


Man held after car hits pedestrian

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Portrush.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital following the incident on East Strand at 1915 BST on Wednesday. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A short time later police received reports a car had struck a vehicle at Eglinton Street in the town.

At 1950 BST, a car left the road four miles away at Ballytober. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene.
